Jaime Ellsworth

Jaime Ellsworth was born in 1955 and in 1989 began work as an artist. “Simple forms are consistent in all of my artwork, and I enjoy working in series, offering relationships, contrasts and discovery. I create visual situations from everyday experiences and observations. Although I begin with a clear idea of what I am trying to achieve, the painting actually emerges from what I already know and what I learn along the way. Each new series directs the path I take and the journey is welcomed.”

Ellsworth has made a name for herself with vivid paintings of Pagau, a dog rescued by her daughter, Nicky, in Beijing, China. Since Pagau’s rescue and long journey from China, he has often been the subject of Ellsworth’s paintings as she captures his moments of contemplation.

“With each work, I invite the viewer to first look at the simplicity of the image, then beyond, opening the door to the imagination.”

In appreciation of the inspiration gained from Pagau, Ellsworth donates some of her paintings to animal welfare societies.
